Lectures After Dark is a growing movement of intellectual social events that combine academic learning settings with the social experience of a bar.

Note

Making being educated cool again.

Problem

Making it easier for people to learn about interesting things, meet new people, and get out of the house.

Context

I run Lectures After Dark as a community project and a real operating system. I handle the website, speaker outreach, event planning, promotion, and the day-to-day work of getting people in the same room.

What I did

  • Built and maintained the public LAD website and event pages.
  • Set up workflows for speaker outreach, event planning, promotion, and follow-up across Notion, email, calendar, and web publishing.
  • Wrote event copy and shaped the visual direction for events and social content.
  • Used automation and AI tools to cut down repetitive research, outreach, and event-prep work.

What came out of it

  • Hosted 21 events for more than 530 attendees.
  • Built a repeatable way to bring speakers, venues, ideas, and audiences together.
  • Turned a personal interest in public learning into a real local community.
