YATA

YATA (Yet Another Tinder App) turns transaction review into swipe decisions and uses those decisions to drive spending insights and geofenced merchant alerts.

Note

Sometimes the right UX move is making the serious thing a little more playful.

Context

I worked on this concept as a more playful take on financial awareness, blending Plaid transaction data, mobile interactions, and location-aware nudges into one app.

What I did

  • Built a swipe-based transaction review flow in Ionic React so users could sort purchases as necessary or unnecessary with fast card interactions.
  • Integrated Plaid-based onboarding and transaction fetching into a cross-platform mobile app built for web, iOS, and Android.
  • Worked on local persistence and analytics for swipe history, merchant summaries, and spending insight generation.
  • Helped shape a custom Android geofencing workflow through Capacitor so the app could trigger merchant-aware notifications based on prior behavior.

What came out of it

  • Produced a working cross-platform app scaffold spanning web, iOS, and Android.
  • Turned subjective swipe decisions into reusable merchant-level signals and lightweight personal-finance insights.
  • Explored a more behavioral, product-forward way to interact with transaction data than a standard budgeting dashboard.
